Food

Overview
In this day in age it's hard to know exactly what to feed our pets. There are so many different products on the market, organic, all natural, the expensive and cheap commercial brands. They’re all telling us why our pets should be eating their products. What makes a good pet food? For starters, your pet should like the food. This might be hard to tell with some pets as their mouths are in action before you put the bowl on the floor. And then there are other pets that are very fussy eaters and will only eat certain types of food. Maybe your pet will only eat if hand feed them or if the food is presented in their favorite way. Figuring out whether your pet likes the food is essential but not the most important factor. You must consider the appearance of your pets coat, activity levels, state of droppings, breath, allergies etc.

Look for a brand that includes natural/organic ingredients. In the ingredients, the first ingredient should be meat meal followed by brown rice (not white) and fish oil. Most of them have the same stuff. Do keep an open dialogue with your veterinarian with any changes in your pet’s diet.

As a rule of thumb, most pets, like us, enjoy a variety. However always remember, unlike us, pets require a different balance in their diet. Pets should not be given chocolate just because we like it. They should not be given sweets or other sugary foods, just because we enjoy them. It is very cruel to over feed any animal. Our pets entrust us with their care and we should not cause years of unnecessary suffering to our animals or cut their life expectancy short just because we can't resist their cute faces.
